Playwright, Poet and Critic Bonnie Greer talks to Astral Voices about her highly acclaimed new play Ella, Meet Marilyn. Focusing on the friendship between Ella Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe, two iconic figures of the 20th century, the play shows a friendship in a time where segregation was prevalent. The play features classic Fitzgerald and Monroe songs arranged by multi-award-winning Warren Wills, directed by Colin McFarlane (The Fast Show; Judge John Deed, Batman Begins) and starring Sally Lindsay (”Shelly” from Coronation Street) and Rain Pryor (daughter of Richard).
